In fact I have done that myself and still do on many topics. The point is that everyone wants to make their Christmas best than ever before. The 2 week holidays till New Year are like refreshment period for nearly all of us. So it is natural that one wants to enjoy the most out of every single day of these holidays. The fact is that the next whole year we browse through our photographs of the holiday spent every other month. It is a must thing that one of the best photos of them all will be printed and framed on cheap canvas prints to be hung on any of our home wall. So any idea or a tip to make the event of Christmas memorable is always appreciated, I know from my own personal experience.

Biggest questions of Moms for the event of Christmas are gifts and then Ideas for baking and cooking. Although the choice of baking items specifically depend upon what children usually like and that can be known because of the trend from the previous baking on Christmas event, but still one needs to introduce new things in the list of established ones. That is where one needs a bit of feed on ideas and tips. I myself have been fond of baking and just baking, I don’t want to know nothing about exquisite cooking, that I leave up to my wife. The reason of my interest with baking might be the fact that I love cakes, cookies and other baked items. The crispiness of freshly baked thing is amazing and yes of course mouthwatering.

Baking tips and Ideas
Garnishing is the most important thing in Christmas baking, so choose a baking idea that require and can accommodate a bit of garnishing for the Christmas event.

Giving characters to your baking do the wonders. They become a must try for kids that otherwise won’t be willing to eat any cookie, though they are very less to be found.
Always make a one baking item that has a mega structure. Like building of cookie in layers. You can make a vertical Christmas tree of it or any other shape you see fit. This kind of gives you main attraction other than cake.

Cakes are the best baking items for the Christmas event and the best thing about them is that they have ample space for the decorations and garnishing. You can make Santa with a sledge and a reindeer with the help of colored cream on top of it. The drawings are not difficult as you only have to use write colors and approximate figures, so don’t worry if your drawing is not good. As long as it is tasty and figures make sense, all is well.

5 Essential Emergency Items To Keep In Your Car

One never knows when an emergency situation will arise whilst driving. You may find yourself in a blizzard, in a desert or simply out of cellphone range. Regardless of your emergency, it is important to have these 5 essential emergency items to keep in your car at all times.

A Flashlight
A flashlight is essential for a number of reasons. You may need to change a tire in the dark. Being able to see into an unlit trunk and to be able to see your actions as you perform them will make the task significantly easier. A flashlight will also prove invaluable if you have to walk at night for assistance.

Maps
Believe it or not, technology does not always work, particularly in emergency situations. You should always have a road atlas representing all states in the vehicle. You may very well avert a potentially dangerous situation by being able to quickly navigate your way out of trouble. And, you can use your flashlight to read the map at night if necessary.

Water
Everyone should have their car stocked with water. You do not need to spend money on expensive bottle water. You can just as easily reuse old plastic bottles to fill with tap water to save money. You might also consider keeping a separate jug of water to use on the vehicle if necessary.

Extra Clothing or Blankets
Even if you are stranded in the desert, temperatures drop significantly at night. You want to ensure that you are able to stay warm enough to survive through the night. This becomes increasingly critical if you are traveling through mountainous regions or cold states during the autumn and winter. To save on space in your trunk, consider using a convenient vacuum-seal bag to ensure you are able to bring as much as possible.

Food
You never know how long you might be stranded. It is a good idea to have enough emergency food supply to last for at least a few days. Remember to pack non-perishable items that will last for months or years rather than items with a short shelf life. You should also pack resealable bags to dispose of trash as to not attract animals with the smell of your garbage and to be kind to the environment.

Being in any emergency situation is often a bit overwhelming. Having these essential items in your vehicle at all times will provide you with the ability to survive until you are able to reach help.

5 Wise Tips for Building Your Emergency Survival Kit

Regardless of which type of disaster your preparing for, having an appropriate kit is always wise. Even those who do not anticipate any disasters in their future may want to consider assembling a simple disaster survival kit just in case. Designing a kit, however, is a bit more complicated than some imagine. Here are five tips to consider for those looking to build a survival kit.

1. Determine what survival means
Many people overestimate what they will need for survival. Luxury items ought to be avoided, and disaster kits should only contain items that are absolutely necessary for staying alive. It is fine to store other items, but they should be placed in a secondary kit.

2. What kind of kit to you want?
Their two main options for those who are building survival kits. The first main type of kit is used to survive a particular incident, and the components contained will only be good for a limited amount of time. These kits will likely be composed of emergency food and adequate supplies. The second type of kit is one that can be used for months or years at a time; these kits primarily focus on surviving in the wilderness.

3. Every ounce counts
While we have all heard that it is wise to over-prepare, any extra weight in a survival kit will make travel more difficult. Every ounce makes a difference, and any component that can be eliminated should be left behind. When in doubt, however, it is best to place an item in the kit and dispose of it if possible after disaster strikes.

4. Shelter
Whatever form of shelter you choose to plan for, ensure that necessary components are included in your survival kit. Having a tent is always a great idea in case a large vehicle may not be available. Shelter is not optional; heat, rain and cold weather can all lead to severe medical issues, which cannot be properly treated in case of disaster. In addition, you may want to ensure that you include blankets to keep you warm if the temperature drops.

5. Food and water
When assembling your disaster survival kit, ensure that you know how to find food and water in the wilderness. Try to keep water and food stored, and remember that you will likely consume far more calories on average if your life is on the line. Here, it is wise to err on the side of over-preparing instead of not having enough food and water.

4 Tips on How to Lengthen the Shelf Lives of Foods

Food storage is very important as it can prevent you and your family from being hungry during times of emergencies and natural calamities. You and your family can survive during hurricanes, typhoons, and earthquakes even if there are no communications and you cannot buy food supplies because roads are blocked. Also, when tough times, such as financial problems, strike, you and your family will never go hungry because you have foods stored in your pantry. However, if you do not store your foods properly, they will spoil and that will be wasting money.

To avoid food spoilage, here are some tips on how to lengthen the shelf lives of your foods:

1.Invest in durable food storage containers.
There are several food containers in the market today. You can choose to keep your foods in plastic, glass or metal containers. However, plastic containers are porous so they have the tendency to absorb the smell of the foods stored in them. Also, opaque containers are better than see-through containers; there are foods that spoil faster if they are stored in clear containers than opaque containers. Containers should be airtight to keep off insects and rodents. Lastly, remember that these containers must be food grade, this means that the chemicals from the containers will not transfer to the foods. These chemicals can be hazardous and dangerous once mixed with food and are consumed.

2.Location.
The location of your foods is as important as their containers. Put your survival storage packs in an area where it is cool and well ventilated. Place them in cupboards that are away from your cooking stoves and ovens, as the temperature can rise when you are cooking. Avoid stocking them in the attic because the temperature is higher there during summer. You can store them in the basement since the temperature is lower there, just make sure that you remember to bring them along in case you need to vacate your house during calamities.

3.Check their expiration dates.
Check the expiration dates of your food storage products regularly. To avoid throwing expired products, eat from your emergency food supplies and replace them regularly. Remember that crackers, dried fruit and potatoes must be consumed within six months, while canned meat and soup, fruit juices, and boxed and cereals can last up to a year.

4.Consider your family’s diet.
Your food storage for survival kit must only contain foods that you and your family will eat. Stock foods that you and your family like. For sure, you wouldn’t like to eat foods that you dislike and have never tasted before during a calamity. Also consider the special diets of your family members; for example, if you have an infant, make sure that you have enough baby formula stored. An emergency can happen anytime and the best thing you can do for you and your family is to be prepared for it. Having food storage for survival is what every family should do. Being prepared for any calamity can save lives, so stock your pantry with food and have an emergency kit.

What's wrong with good old English food?

My Son eats Indian meals.
When he brings one home, I have to leave the room because I hate the smell of them. I find it best to avoid them all. What's wrong with good old English food?
Nothing if it's done right. Trouble is, a lot of "English" food consists of a piece of meat, a potato and something green. And for some people that can get boring. Even if you add salt, pepper and Catchup. :-)
If you are inclined to cook, you might try adding a little curry, turmeric, cumin and garlic to things like stews and sauces. Add some cayenne if you want to up the sweat factor and the adventure.
There's lots more and I don't know the half of it.
Eat well, have fun. Enjoy.
